March 11, 2011: Will It Rain on the Budget?

The governor orders flags back to full-staff.

1. Crank up the basement dehumidifiers and keep the ShopVacs at the ready. Rain  will pour down on an already-soggy ground.

2. Mayor Jason McCoy announced on Thursday that he will present thefor the 2011-12 fiscal year at Tuesday's Town Council meeting. 

3. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has ordered that the Connecticut and U.S. flags be returned to full-staff. The flags were lowered on March 1 in honor of Specialist David R. Fahey Jr., a 23-year-old Norwalk native who was killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

4. Officer Timothy Murphy, a 20-year veteran of the Vernon Police Department and a popular D.A.R.E. officer and school resource officer, is retiring.

5. One of the more lively and unique church services in the area is the Friday night ministry of ''The Rock,'' the Rockville Church of the Nazarene. Check out the church's listing on the Vernon Patch.
