July In The Sky Fireworks Show Moved To Wednesday

Parks and Recreation Officials cited the threat of storms all day.

With the threat of thunderstorms looming today into tonight, the Parks and Recreation Department has postponed the annual July in the Sky fireworks show until Wednesday. It was s scheduled for tonight - Tuesday.

The same time schedule - a 6 p.m. opening for activities at both Downtown Rockville and Henry Park and an approximate 9:40 p.m. showtime - will be followed, Assistant Director Steve Krajewski said.

"It's for safety reasons and I also think the weather will scare some people away," he said.

As far as Wednesday is concerned, Krajewski said the forecast is still "iffy," but a decision on that will be made in the morning. Parks and Recreation officials are working on a rain date if Wednesday is not a go, he said.
