DPW Outlines Yard Waste Policy

Curbside pick-ups are no longer an option.

As the warmer weather moves in and yard work begins to pick up, Public Works Director Robert Kleinhans is reminding residents that yard waste will no longer be collected curbside.

Residents are allowed to bring to the transfer station on Hockanum Boulevard, free of charge, once per week:

• Two bundles of brush.

• One trash bag filled with tree trimmings, twigs, weeds, pine cones.

Larger amounts of yard waste will require a permit and punch card, Kleinhans said.

The City Lot leaf bin located at the Nye Street Firehouse will be open this week, Kleinhans said. The bin is for disposal of leaves only and no grass clippings or brush are allowed in it, he said.

Contamination caused by disposal of any other type of yard waste or debris will result in the leaf bin being shut down, Kleinhans said.
