Celebrated Drum & Bugle Corps to Rehearse in Vernon

The sessions at Legion Field will be open to the public.

The Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights alumni Drum & Bugle corps will be practicing at Legion Field in Vernon on Saturday, Aug. 10 and Sunday Aug. 11 from noon to 4 p.m.

The sessions will be open to the public.

The rehearsal is in preparation for a performance at the DCA World Championship, local recreation officials said.

The corps is one of a select group of alumni Drum & Bugle Corps that will play in exhibition during the World Championship weekend at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, on Sept. 1.

The corps is based in Newark, NJ, and is comprised of musicians from up and down the East Coast. The Vernon location was chosen to give the members a central location to rehearse, corps officials said. The corps has a championship history that dates back to the 1960s. Many members still play in the corps.

The instruments featured are drums and bugles with a supporting color guard.
The Drum Corps activity is a strong musical and marching show that offers pageantry, music and showmanship.
