Campus Notes: Grads and Dean's List

Vernon students excel.


Samantha Schoeneberger of Vernon was awarded a bachelor of arts degree from Connecticut College at the 95th commencement ceremony on May 19.
Schoeneberger majored in psychology.



Goodwin College is pleased to announce that 65 students have been inducted into Alpha Sigma Lambda, the Kappa Mu Chi Chapter, on May 17, during a moving ceremony while hundreds of onlookers, including family and friends, packed the auditorium.

Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its Dean's List for the spring 2013 semester.


• Full-time student Ryan Allard of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Allard's major is Computer Science.

• Full-time student Alexander Bieniek of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Bieniek's major is Business Administration.

• Full-time student William Blaney of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Blaney's major is Business Administration.

• Full-time student Samantha Bonan of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Bonan's major is Physical Education.

• Full-time student Brittany Catania of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Catania's major is English.

• Full-time student Brandon Choquette of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Choquette's major is English.

• Full-time student Emily Clough of Vernon, CT, was named to the Dean's List. Clough's major is Sociology.

• Full-time student Meghan Clough of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Clough's major is Psychology.

• Full-time student Andrew Deane of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Deane's major is Physical Education.

• Full-time student Angus Deane of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Deane's major is Sport & Leisure Management.

• Full-time student Alexandra DiPinto of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. DiPinto's major is Business Administration.

• Full-time student Cayla Dixon of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Dixon's major is Pre-Early Childhood Education and Psychology.

• Full-time student Samantha Foreman of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Foreman's major is Undeclared.

• Full-time student Christine Jardes of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Jardes's major is Communication.

• Full-time student Anne May of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. May's major is Spanish.

• Full-time student Kelly McSorley of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. McSorley's major is Psychology.

• Full-time student Jennifer Melnick of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Melnick's major is Business Administration.

• Full-time student Alison Newhall of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Newhall's major is Pre-Secondary Education Certification and English.

• Full-time student Claire Pellino of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Pellino's major is Psychology.

• Full-time student Kimberly Perna of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Perna's major is Elementary Education and English.

• Full-time student Alexander Rouleau of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Rouleau's major is Computer Science.

• Full-time student Joseph Shoemaker of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Shoemaker's major is Business Administration.

• Full-time student Eric Wagner of Vernon was named to the Dean's List. Wagner's major is General Studies.



Sacred Heart University has announced the Dean's List for the spring semester 2013. To receive this honor, a student must achieve a 3.6 grade average, based on a 4.0 scale. The following students made the spring 2013 Dean's List:

• Kristen Sullivan of Vernon.

• Abby Usko of Vernon.



The following local residents recently graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute: 

• Brian Seney of Vernon was awarded a bachelor of science degree in computer science with high distinction.

• Gregory Ford of Vernon was awarded a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering.


Polina Yakushchenko of Vernon received a Bachelor of Science - Health Science (PA) degree at the 162nd Commencement exercises held at Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA, on Sunday, May 5.



A total of 541 bachelor degrees and 25 master's degrees were awarded at the 187th Commencement ceremonies held on Trinity's historic quadrangle.
The following local students graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, on Sunday, May 19, 2013:

• Anthony El-Hachem, of Vernon graduated with a B.A. in International Studies: Middle Eastern Studies with honors. El-Hachem also majored in Economics. El-Hachem minored in Arabic Language.

• Mohamed Hendawy Vernon, CT, graduated with a B.S. in Engineering with honors.
