April 2, 2011: The Wagers are In

Governor, AG put up chocolate, ice cream and oysters for Final Four games.

1. Mayor Jason McCoy and the Vernon Town Council will conduct the third day of budget deliberations for the 2011-2012 fiscal year today at 9 a.m.  Once the budget is approved by the council, it will go before the public at the Annual Town Meeting on Tuesday, April 26. The Town Meeting is scheduled for the Rockville High School auditorium. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. with a Public Hearing at 7:05 p.m.
 
2. Attorney General George Jepsen is caught up in March Madness. When Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway called to talk about the NCAA Final Four game tonight featuring the University of Connecticut against the University of Kentucky, Conway put a Meacham Country ham on the table as a wager. Jepsen countered with several dozen Connecticut-grown oysters.

3. Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has also wagered a ham in his competition with Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy regarding the UConn-UK matchup. Malloy has put up ice cream from the UConn Dairy Bar.

4. Malloy has put UConn-themed Munson's chocolates on the table against Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels for Sunday's UConn-Notre Dame Women's Final Four matchup. Daniels has countered with chocolate from a South Bend shop.

5. The governor has ordered the Connecticut and U.S. flags to fly at half staff in honor of Connecticut resident Staff Sgt. Frank E. Adamski III, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on Tuesday.
