VERNON Man Places Second In Spooktacular 5K

CUTLINE: Jason Earl, Vernon, poses with his cash prize after winning second place in the men’s division at the 2013 Run MS, A Spooktacular 5K, held Saturday, Oct. 26, at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. The Halloween-themed run, in which participants were encouraged to dress in costume, attracted more than 600 runners and raised about $20,000 to benefit the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, and those it serves. Michael Tartar, of Manchester, came in first in the men’s division with a time of 17:48.72, and Laura Tignonsini, Manchester, took first in the women’s division with a gun time of 21:36.20. Earl crossed the finish line with a gun time of 18:12.74.
