Thanks from Strong Family Farm

What a weekend at the Strong Family Farm in Vernon!!  Saturday was "Spring Clean Up Day" and dozens of caring volunteers raked, swept, painted, planted, repaired and more on the grounds and in the barns of the 135-year-old property that is being preserved and transformed from a working farm to a non-profit agricultural education center.

Sunday dawned cloudier and cooler but the shiny clean farm was home to its inaugural 5k "Chicken Run."

More than 100 runners of all ages traversed Vernon's roads and trails in a fierce but friendly competition.

Thanks to all the volunteers who made the day a great success, including sponsors like Dalene Flooring and the Vernon Police Explorers and Vernon C.E.R.T team.

Seven generations of the Strong Family have built and maintained the property that has stood as a sentinel in the heart of Vernon.  Many thanks to all who are helping us, in ways big and small, with rakes, paint brushes, sponsorships and running shoes, to ensure that the farm is preserved for future generations.
