July is "Only Child" Month at Our Companions

Have you ever dreamed of owning a cat or dog, but felt you could only care for one? Have you ever experienced the happiness of a pet who is the center of attention in his or her home? If the answer is yes, you are not alone. According to a 2011-2012 APPA National Pet Owners survey, 60% of owners surveyed own one dog, and 39% of households surveyed own at least one cat. Adopting a pet prevents unnecessary euthanasia, and contributes to the happiness of both animal and owner!

If you are considering adopting only one pet, Our Companions is here for you! This month is Our Companions’ “Only Child Month”, where dogs and cats who prefer to be an “Only Pet” will be featured for adoption. While adoption applications are still required, July adoption fees will be waived for these special pets. For more information, contact the Our Companions helpline at (860) 242-9999 xt.302 or at helpline@ourcompanions.org
