The Ram Burger is About to Kick Off

And so is the RHS football team.

Ladies and gentlemen ...

Introducing ...

The Ram Burger.

Food and Nutritional Services Director Chef Chris Avgtes and Rockville High School culinary students have been testing out different burgers to turn over to the RHS Football Booster Club to feature at Friday's football opener from the school system's new mobile concession stand.

A selection featuring a Southwest-style burger on a pretzel bun won out over a sausage and beef number and a burger on a fried dough bun with a secret blue sauce.

It looks like it will be selling for about $5 at the game.

Speaking of the game, kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. for the game against E.O. Smith, but the gates will open at 5 p.m. for a variety of games and activities, particularly for the youngsters.

They will include:

• A bounce house
• A joust arena
• A dunk tank, sponsored by the RHS Marching Ram Band. • Games
• Plenty of food, and Chef Chris Avtges, the new food services director will debut the Ram Burger.
• Fire trucks, courtesy of the Vernon Fire Department

New Principal Andrew Rockett has signed up for a dunk tank time slot. Other special guests will dare fans to dunk them.

The RHS band and cheerleading squad will also perform.

Several pre-game ceremonies are also scheduled, including an honor guard presenting the colors.

The RHS Football Booster Club is making free tickets available to the event. For pickup locations, contact the club via its Web site:
