Celebrity Apprentice, 9 p.m., NBC And the winner is … In a million years I would not have pegged Arsenio and Clay Aiken to be the finalists. Right? Or certainly that snot Aubrey to have come in third. Which is why we love the Apprentice! I am picking Clay to win. For no particular reason, other than I still feel bad I voted for Ruben in the Idol finale. The 2012 Billboard Music Awards, 8 p.m., ABC “Festivities at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas recognize artists for the fan support they've garnered; musical performances include Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber, LMFAO and the Wanted; musician Stevie Wonder receives the 2012 Billboard Icon Award.” Nurse Jackie, 9 p.m., Showtime The best evolution in this new season is not the trials and …

The Conn College group is now a two-time winner.
For two years now, the ConnChords have been making a lot of noise around Rockville. And it certainly has been joyful. The Rockville Downtown Association recently sponsored its annual Stephen C. Marcham A Cappella Slam competition in the Senior Center Performance Hall and the repeat winner was the all-female ConnChords from Connecticut College. Also competing were groups from the University of Connecticut and and Eastern Connecticut State University. More than 100 people from the community attended the event. Let Patch save you time. Harry’s Law, 8 p.m., NBC Cancelled. The Firm, 9 p.m., NBC Cancelled. Meet Mrs. Eastwood & Company, 10 p.m., E! I imagine being married to Clint Eastwood is a lot like being forced to watch Unforgiven over and over in a small, airless room. So perhaps having her own reality show is just something to do to pass the time, but perhaps it is a cry for help (like Gary Busey’s wife on Wife Swap). So I plan to watch closely, for clues. “Clint Eastwood's wife, Dina, introduces their daughters and their housekeeper, then Dina reveals her passion project.”

TV tips for Friday, May 18, 2012
American Graffiti, 8 p.m., TCM Oh, I love this movie. I have not seen it in years. Might be the perfect Friday night antidote to another crazy week. Maybe I’ll swing by the store and pick up a pocket comb, a pack of gum, and a bottle of whiskey and just settle in. The Celebrity Apprentice, 8 p.m., CNBC In case you missed the look on Aubrey’s face last Sunday when she got fired – or the even better look on her face when Arsenio picked Teresa over her after that – you can watch it all again tonight. Or even if you have already seen it and you simply enjoyed it as much as we did – watch it again! Say Yes To The Dress: Bridesmaids, 9:30 p.m., TLC “A church pastor mother who doesn't want the sexy short dress; a mother that doesn't want her …

Ten Nutmeggers — one of whom saved 40 lives — survived the torpedoing of the ship in May 1915.
As was the case with the Titanic, the "what ifs" associated with the sinking of the Lusitania are haunting. Perhaps the biggest question centers around the transfer of passengers in New York from the SS Cameronia to the Lusitania. The transfer of people and baggage delayed the Lusitania's departure from New York by more than two hours. Had the big ship departed on time it is quite likely that it would not have crossed paths with German U-Boat U-20, thus averting disaster. Instead, the transfer not only added to the casualty list, but it also guaranteed the ship's ill-fated rendezvous with U-20 — an encounter that cost the lives of three Connecticut residents, as detailed in last week's column. This week we'll take a look at some of the …

Person of Interest, 9 p.m., CBS What a great season this turned out to be. I love when a new show starts out intriguing and then gets better. Such a rarity. Tonight, in the season finale (it has been renewed), all hell breaks loose as the government closes in on Reese. Finch, Fusco and Carter must save him! Do you think they will? And do you think they will finally explain why HR is called HR? 30 Rock, 8:30 p.m., NBC In the season finale (renewed!!!) jack asks Liz to officiate at his and Avery’s vow renewal. Remember what happened the last time Liz was at Jack and Avery’s wedding? She ended up married to Jack. So this could be fun. Missing, 8 p.m., ABC Hope you didn’t love this, because it ain’t coming back.

TV tips for Wednesday, May 16, 2012
Modern Family, 9 p.m., ABC Last week’s episode was the perfect mix of emotion and humor. The humanity of Jay was really touching, in both his reminiscences of the dissolution of his marriage, and his care of Gloria’s feet. Don’t Trust The B …, 9:30 p.m., ABC “Meatballs!” Seriously, if you are not watching this – why not? And thank goodness, it has been renewed! Criminal Minds, 9 p.m., CBS Season finale — and for all you fans of rampant misogyny, this has been renewed.

TV tips for Tuesday, May 15, 2012
NCIS, 8 p.m., CBS It’s finale, finale, finale this week all over the schedule. In tonight’s season finale here, “Shaken by terrorism, the NCIS faces devastating surprises; the case impacts Jimmy Palmer's destination wedding.” At 9, the two-hour season finale of the LA version offers this: “Callen and the team pursue a criminal mastermind motivated by revenge.” America’s Got Talent, 8 p.m., NBC San Francisco! So many unique and talented individuals here. Private Practice, 10 p.m., ABC The switch to Tuesdays has not been kind to this tired dishrag of a medical drama, but fear not the few of who remain devoted – it looks like ABC will renew for one more season, if only to give them a chance to figure out a way to kill everyone off in the most…

TV tips for Monday, May 14, 2012
America’s Got Talent, 8 p.m., NBC So this is a conundrum for me. I adore AGT. Love it. Watch it faithfully with the kids. But … I detest Howard Stern. Like, with all my heart. Like, deeply. Like, a lot. I’d rather French kiss Piers Morgan than support anything connected to Howard Stern. And I am befuddled as to the thinking behind putting this disgusting piece of junk behind the judges’ desk of such a family show. So … I am not sure what to do here. Bones, 8 p.m., Fox Season finale. Parenthood. Couplehood. Lots of changes for our two this season. Bottom line, decent season, but not great. The Bachelorette, 9:30 p.m., ABC Have you ever seen failure rewarded more than on this franchise? This woman, Emily Maynard, failed miserably in her …

TV tips for Sunday, May 13, 2012
Survivor: One World, 8 p.m. This started out as a season that was physically painful to watch. But once Colton left, things picked up considerably, and when Kim emerged as a powerful genius, it got really good. Good luck tonight, gang. (Reunion show is at 10.) Celebrity Apprentice, 9 p.m., NBC It was inevitable that Teresa would be fired last week, but I have to say the Lisa offing took me by surprise. Maybe the guy in charge of the bleep button begged Trump to get rid of her, as he had developed carpal tunnel syndrome while managing all her foul-mouthed tantrums. Or maybe they had depleted the tissue budget, and the chronic crier had to be cut because of that. Or maybe Trump just got tired of her ^&%$*&#@. At any rate, when we open …
Jerry O'Connor
7:37 pm on Thursday, May 17, 2012
The only time my grandfather ever got his picture in the newspaper (in Elizabeth, NJ) was in late May of 1915 when he returned from an extended trip to the UK. Unbeknownst to him, he had been listed as lost on the Lusitania (turned out it was another Charles O'Connor) and everyone, including his family, thought he had perished. The Elizabeth Daily Journal had a lot of fun with a "Comes Back from …   more ›
