Woman Charged After ID Theft Investigation

Police made the arrest on Friday.

A Vernon woman was taken into custody on Friday evening after an investigation into alleged identity theft activity, police said.

Vernon detectives executed two search warrants on Friday - one at a residence in Vernon and the second on Woodlawn Street in East Hartford, according to a news release issued by Vernon police. The warrants were the result of a lengthy investigation into financial crimes and identity theft, police said.

The warrants have been sealed by the court while the investigation continues, according to a news release. The investigation is being conducted by Vernon detectives with assistance from East Hartford police and the financial crimes task force.

As a result of the investigation, Vernon detectives arrested Anna Hansley, 26, of 30 Parkwest Dr., Vernon. Hansley was charged with third-degree larceny  (aggregate) and was released on a $10,000 bond, police said.  

She is due to appear on Nov. 27 in Rockville Superior Court, police said.

The investigation is active and no further information is being released until the warrant is unsealed, police said.
