Vernon Schools Marathon Slated for Thursday

The fourth-annual Vernon Schools Marathon is scheduled for Thursday.

Local youth coach, runner and Eastern Connecticut State University faculty member Charlie Chatterton, along with Rockville High School Athletic Director Steven Phelps will be leading a pack of runners in making the 26-mile tour around town.

They will be going to each school to promote the School Wellness Council’s message of encouraging kids to be more active. 

There will also be a food drive at all schools and the central administration office to bring attention to the more than 1,700 families that now utilize the Hockanum Valley’s Community Council's Food Pantry.

A book drive is schedueld for Skinner Road during the day.

Food items can be delivered through Friday.

The marathon schedule of visits is below. The tour begins at 7:30 a.m. at Skinner Road School and concludes at 1:55 p.m., back at Skinner Road.

8:50 a.m. (6.25) Arrive at Maple Street School (Run 1 mile)

9:10 a.m. (7.25) Depart Maple Street

9:20 a.m. (8.10) Pass Board of Education building

9:23 a.m. (8.4) Pass the Comerstone Foundation

9:32 a.m. (9.25) Arrive Northeast School (Run 1 mile)

10:00 a.m. (10.25) Depart Northeast School

10:30 a.m. (12.20) Arrive at  VCMS (Run 1 Mile)

10:55 a.m. (13.20) Depart  VCMS
